Peter Doig at Two Palms, New York

Two Palms presents Peter Doig at their New York venue.

Peter Doig is one of the most internationally-renowned artists working today. Through a career of nearly three decades, Doig has reinvigorated the medium of painting. The exhibit represents his works in an inventive style, sensuous palette and suggestive imagery set him apart from the conceptualism dominating much of contemporary art. A willingness to take up the challenge still posed by the paintings of Gauguin, Matisse, Bonnard and Edward Hopper places him in a long line of great colorists, expressive handlers of paint and creators of richly textured worlds. Doig was the subject of a survey at the Scottish National Gallery titled “No Foreign Lands” that focused on works created in the last 10 years. From January 25 to June 8, 2014. “No Foreign Lands” also toured to Montreal’s Musée des Beaux-Arts.

Two Palms Gallery was founded in 1994 by the artist David Lasry, Two Palms Press is renowned for working with a small roster of artists to ensure a focused and intense collaboration. Two Palms Press strives to get under the "skin of the artist" to find potentialities the artist may not have realised were there. The artists are able to work for as long as it takes for them to realise their idea, often requiring the invention of new printing methods to see the work through to completion. Based in New York, Two Palms Press have recently opened the Two Palms Gallery to showcase their work.

The exhibition is on view at Two Palms,38 Crosby Street, 3rd floor, New York.
